From the Librarian

Greetings Gators,

Welcome to our 2023-24 school year! I am privileged to serve as your librarian.   I am excited about the new year and and all the new activities the library will bring to you this year.

As librarian, I plan to help our students develop a healthy love and appreciation for reading and teach them to understand the value of authentic research skills that will support their present and future educational goals. I also plan to expose our teachers and students to digital resources that will positively impact the learning process and make the library an exciting and memorable place.

I have resided in Houston for over 25 years and am a proud alumni of The University of Houston.  I received  masters degrees in Education focusing on Curriculum & Instruction and Reading; respectively, and certification in Library Science.   My past job experiences have afforded me the opportunity to serve as a 4th grade teacher, librarian, title1 coordinator, after school coordinator, summer school coordinator, public relations officer and fine arts magnet coordinator.

My family is an essential part of my life.  I have been married for over 34 years to a devoted husband and we are the proud parents of two wonderful children.   I enjoy spending time with my sisters, brothers, nephews and nieces - so much that we all spend family vacation together each year.  I love to travel and I love for the students to share their travel adventures with me.

I welcome the opportunity to meet each of you and please know that this is "our" library and I value your time, ideas and support.  I know that together we will produce life long readers that will learn to connect globally.
